Dralion

Interactive art installation

THE ENTERTAINMENT QUARTER, Sydney, Australia, June-August 2008

DIRECTOR/CO-CREATOR: SALLY BLACKWOOD
DESIGNER/ CO-CREATOR: GABRIELLE LOGAN

In the Year of The Dragon and Cirque du Soliel’s DRALION comes DRALION the  INSTALLATION.

To accompany Cirque du Soleil’s season of DRALION in Sydney 2008, I was commissioned by the Entertainment Quarter Sydney to create an accessible art installation to draw patrons through the EQ site to and from the DRALION big top. We created the ultimate Dralion DRAGONS whose scaly bodies, feet, and tails entwined and encompassed the whole precinct. Above trails of lights and lanterns followed the Dragons’ path. This street-art installation was in place for three months and proved highly successful, increasing patrons to the site by providing an interactive activity for the whole family in daylight and at night.
